Might be a bit of a stretch here... but would say almost all of the Ice Girls, are not even hockey players... just girls who like to skate, and a working a (frank)ING job. I havn't seen Hooters being criticized in the media lately, they are much worse. Not to mention, the wings are crap.
Slow news days suck on all fronts, giving people an excuse to make things like this an "issue" just to try and spur sales and create controversy. |

Get out of America. U R BANNED!
But seriously, some people just need some things to complain about. Dee's blog comments are usually proof of this, as people seem to love to come on here and just whine about her non-stop. |

"The rumor mill has Garth Snow trying to package Grabner with other assets in an effort to improve the team."
That should be your blog. |

I'm a fan. In fact, in general, their wings are better than their waitresses at many Hooters I've been to (like, 3-4). |

I can't argue that... as my father put it years ago (possibly the last time I went to a Hooters)... "I don't get why they still call this place Hooters. These girls are more like "ta-tas". |

I am not a fan of the ice girls or cheerleaders at hockey games. Its too half hearted. Either do the damnable exploitative thing and pay uber-hot chicks to do the job like WWE; or, keep it classy and don't do it at all. But whatever you do, don't pretend its not exploitative, because it totally is. |

Dee Karl: NHL Ice Girls Debate Continues - 14 Years Later
Really San Jose? This is what you have to complain about? - Dee Karl
I think it's great for young girls to see that shoveling snow is not something that only men can do. I wish my wife had been motivated to pick up a shovel at an early age. Where's the equality that we so desperately need? |

Q: How do you turn a dishwasher into a snowblower?
A: Give her a shovel. |

WIN!!!!!!!
The downside to that is that you have to let her out of the kitchen AND give her shoes. |

The trick is to get them "naked" so you're not eating soggy breading... once i learned that trick i was quite happy with their wings. |

I will actually take that under consideration. The breading is the main reason for my dislike... its either soggy, or just oily/greasy and dulls any taste of chicken... or hell, even breading with the grease trap.
Or I can try their other food... I've seen non wings on the menu, I'm sure those items exist right? Or are they there just for show? |

" I’d much rather see women with the freedom to be scantily clad than women forced to wear burkas."
Great line.
Also, let's make it even, have "ice guys" in tight shirts and shorts clean the ice for women's hockey games... |

Ya damn their religious freedoms!
Also... would you really want men in tight shorts shoveling the snow at those games... it's mainly 13 year old girls at the games.

Last game that I went to... a Ref ran into the same girl 4 or 5 times while she was shoveling throughout the game. It looked a bit awkward after the 2nd time. If it was a guy shoveling, that ref would have been on his ass. THATS entertainment |

Just look up some of EK's blogs from before the super rumor season... he used the ice girls a lot for the cover picture |

Nicely worded and all, but FWIW a woman wrote this article. You'd also be hard pressed to say that ice girls "broaden the brand and make money" for their respective organizations. - eichiefs9
As an anecdote: I go to some of the road-watch parties that the Blackhawks throw and they will often bill the events as having ice girls. This affects the social demographics of who shows up, and has a broader role to play in setting the tone of "the product" of NHL, in this case Blackhawks, hockey.
A different product appeals to a different consumer and in that sense the presence of ice girls draws in the bud light drinking bros over the folks who value hockey for hockey. This impacts sponsorship, events (from roadwatch parties to 'event games,'" and the spirit of the sport itself. The adoption of the ice girls was assuredly a Bettman promoted step towards more closely modeling the NHL off of the NFL and drawing in that viewership. I think this association is of great detriment to what has long been a unique sports sub-culture in the United States, one of heightened integrity, to my mind. |
